Walk West worked alongside Creative Allies, CafePress, and The Sports Shop in partnership with CP3 Rising Stars to drive overall awareness and funding for programming and events designed to cultivate youths on and off the court. Underprivileged kids from around the country met in Greensboro, North Carolina to share time and the court with 9x NBA All-Star, Chris Paul, as they participated in the CP3 Rising Stars Camp. Each year, the camp brings more than 10,000 active players and drives nearly 1,000 scholarship opportunities.

Throughout the event, Walk West was responsible for Facebook Live coverage, content capture for future merchandise and promotional videos, and filming multiple interviews, as well as strategic marketing and PR support to drive awareness and media interest.

The Challenge

The goal was to raise awareness for the 5th Annual CP3 Rising Stars National Camp and attract interest from future attendees, sponsors, and scouts. Walk West was brought on to execute marketing strategies to increase digital presence to the international basketball camp to achieve these goals.

Along with increasing awareness for CP3, Walk West assisted CafePress, a first-time event sponsor and leading retailer on user-generated and on-demand products, in raising promotions for their cause-driven merchandise, that benefit various CP3-affiliated youth organizations. This collection was created by fans through a design contest powered by Creative Allies.

The Solution

By working with multiple organizations including Creative Allies, CafePress, and The Sports Shop, we were able to execute well-rounded live event coverage to increase the digital footprint of CP3 Rising Stars National Camp and provide premium content they could utilize over the next years on social media. The Facebook Live broadcast was the first on that platform for the Rising Stars National Camp, and our efforts were supported by the increase of organic reach, viewership, and engagement on their Facebook page.

Livestream Capabilities

On the CP3 Rising Stars Facebook page, Walk West provided multi-camera live broadcast footage of the All-Stars basketball game, as well as feature commentary and interviews from local influencers, including The Sports Shop, B Daht, and Drinkin from 102 Jamz with camp players and alumni. The livestream resulted in the highest organic page reach of all time, along with record impressions and shares on their Facebook page.

The feedback from the live viewers was to provide more All-Star game footage which led to real-time optimization of a picture-in-picture feed for some of the broadcast. The live feed was shared by multiple pages as viewership spiked during player interviews and game play.

Photography and Video Content Capture

In tandem with the live broadcast, the Walk West team captured premium content through photography and videography to provide CP3 with usable promotional materials. By doing so, we helped CP3 achieve the following goals: increase digital and social awareness, drive attendance for future events by capturing the full event experience, increase digital reach and social media engagement with captivating content, and increase authentic brand awareness and overall perceptions of CP3.

Walk West far exceeded our expectations. Even with a tight timeline, they were able to execute our vision seamlessly! The quality of their setup, team and livestream were extremely impressive. They truly captured the event’s essence, and delivered a livestream that people are still talking about and sharing!
