Walk West Wins Two Platinum MarCom Awards

National Wins for #DontSayVelcro Digital Campaign, Twin Dolphin Website

Raleigh, NC – November 27, 2017 – Walk West, a digital-first marketing, PR, and data-driven communications agency, has been awarded two Platinum MarCom awards, the competition’s highest honor, for Velcro Companies and Twin Dolphin campaigns. The MarCom awards honor international excellence in marketing and communications.

Walk West was acknowledged for the groundbreaking #DontSayVelcro campaign in the digital media, social media, and viral marketing category. The integrated marketing campaign for Velcro Companies was created by the Walk West team to educate consumers about trademark misuse. The team used a strong mix of paid, earned, shared, and owned digital strategies including an original song, video, digital marketing, and a Twitter takeover that created more than 20 real-time musical responses featuring actors from the video, among others. Moreover, the campaign achieved 14th most trending video on YouTube, 4.4 million views, and more than 900 million media impressions. Walk West partner Penn Holderness directed the hero video along with the Twitter takeover videos, also serving as creative director for the campaign.

Walk West’s second 2017 Platinum MarCom award was earned in the digital media and web design category for Ohana Real Estate Investors’ Twin Dolphin website. This luxury hotel, golf, and high-end real estate community in the Golden Corridor of Los Cabos called for a distinctive website that would palpably represent its interconnected ethos of rich history, natural splendor, and uncommon amenities. Drawing inspiration from the Baja landscape and breathtaking oceanfront views, the website successfully transfers the essence of this unique lifestyle experience onto an elegant online canvas.

In addition, Walk West received an honorable mention for Zayden’s Mission, a partnership with Make-a-Wish to help grant a 7-year old’s wish to travel to Saturn, meet aliens, and other specific wishes shared by this amazing child. Sending Zayden to Saturn marked the first time virtual reality was used to fulfill a wish. The Walk West team was proud to capture this special journey.
