We thoroughly enjoy making Greenroom (now Walk West) an interesting and creative place to work. And studies show that bringing your dog to work can increase productivity and creativity. If nothing else, bringing your pooch to the office makes you happy…and hopefully everyone else happy too! So why not? The Greenroom crew (Now Walk West Crew) decided to not only bring one of our dogs to work…We. Brought. Them. ALL!

Hey, we love a challenge around here. We actually thrive on it. So, seven dogs..no problem! Most of them got along well. Ketti’s dog, Derby, who has a bit of a weight issue got a little cranky at lunch time, but we aren’t going to hold that against her.
So, who are these adorable furry creatures who peed in our office and made our day spectacular?
From left to right, that’s Sharon’s dog who’s trying to escape. This was a shocker considering she’s actually a velcro pooch and stuck to Sharon all day, that is until her husband Mike showed up and then that doggie dropped her like a hot potato.
Jen has no choice but to hold onto Hanley. Her dog should have been named Speedy Gonzales. (That boy is a rocket). No worries about Karyann’s dog taking off. That is one lovable and patient senior citizen.
Ann’s dog is pure sugar! She’s also a champion butt sniffer.
AnnMarie’s dog was the little man in the group but don’t tell him that. Max clearly has a trick mirror at home because he thinks he’s a big boy. My girl Athena was a perfect angel..all day.. never growled or got on the furniture. (It’s my blog so that’s what happened).
And that brings us back to Derby. The sweetest lab you’ll ever meet but around noon that girl gets hangry!
So why do we bring our dogs to work? According to the American Pet Products Association, about 1.4 million owners take some 2.3 million dogs to the office every day. Companies like Google, Amazon, and Ben & Jerry’s gladly welcome their employees’ pooches.
Along with the fact that they’re adorable, your dog could help you cope better at work. Maybe even not lose it when that same guy drinks the last drop of coffee without refilling it.
A Central Michigan University study found that co-workers with dogs reported feeling more trust and intimacy toward one another. The body’s level of oxytocin, a special “trust hormone,” increases when you pet your dog or gaze into her eyes.
Fortunately, we don’t have coffee pot issues at Greenroom, but we did all have a good laugh on Dog Day. And we learned a valuable lesson. Take Your Dog to Work Day was awesome, but maybe just not ALL of them on the same day!
By the way, National Take Your Dog To Work Day is Friday, June 24th. So please send us photos and stories of your dog at work!
