Each month, employees nominate one of their fellow Walk Westies who has gone above and beyond and embodied the agency’s values to be Employee of the Month, who are then recognized at Walk West’s monthly agency-wide meeting.
Equal parts journalist and storyteller, Mark Whitney is Walk West’s resident Senior Copywriter. Originally hailing from South Louisiana where he held multiple roles as a food writer, barista trainer, copywriter, maintenance specialist, baker, internal communications specialist, and more, his varied skill set and experience allow him to easily swap voices and tones for a variety of industries — and write content that converts curious browsers into die-hard brand ambassadors.
His biggest skill comes from converting complex concepts into easy-to-digest ideas that connect the technical to the approachable through his passion for research and learning more about what makes the world tick. As a writer, Mark has written headlines, grammar guides, web copy, and print ads while ideating campaign concepts that tie into a brand’s larger story while helping connect audiences through engaging narratives.
When he’s not busy arguing for the existence of the Oxford comma and leading Walk West’s copy team, you might find him nose deep in a new book, playing video games, out on a hike with his wife and his dog Fig, feeding his sourdough starter, or out at one of his favorite coffee shops talking about the finer nuances of single-origin espresso.
